Jamesy Boy To Open 2nd Annual Annapolis Film Festival

Jamesy BoyThe Annapolis Film Festival takes place, Thursday evening, March 27 to Sunday, March 30 at several locations in Annapolis including Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, St. John’s College, St. Anne’s Parish Hall and Compass Rose Theater. A 4-day Festival pass giving access to all 70 + films and panels plus the opening night party and after-party costs just $95 and is available online at www.annapolisfilmfestival.net.  Single tickets and student tickets are also available.

The opening night film is Jamesy Boy a hard-hitting feature about a young gang member who turns his life around in prison, thanks to his friendship with a convicted murderer who becomes his mentor. It stars Taissa Farmiga, Mary-Louise Parker, James Woods, Ving Rhames and new-comer Spencer Lofranco as James. Director, Trevor White and Producer, Tim White, grew up in Annapolis. The film was shot in Baltimore and at Jessup prison.

A Retrospective/Q&A from Oscar-winning writer/director David S. Ward who won the Oscar in 1974 for Best Screenplay for The Sting.  David will show clips from his own library from The Sting and other of his award-winning films such as  Sleepless in Seattle, Major League and more.

Running from Crazy, a new documentary from two-time Academy Award-winning filmmaker Barbara Kopple who takes an unvarnished  look at the multi-generational Hemingway family and the burden of their ‘curse.’ The film is narrated by Mariel, Ernest’s grand-daughter. Executive Producer: Oprah Winfrey.

Druid Peak, a beautifully shot film, written and directed by Marni Zelnick, is a coming of age story about a troubled teenage boy. Owen (Spencer Treat Clark) finds his place in world tracking wolves in Wyoming with his estranged father played by Andrew Wilson (brother to Owen and Luke).
