Annapolis Mayor Michael Pantelides announced that City Government offices will open at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 13, with Liberal Leave.
Employees are permitted to use liberal leave but must contact their supervisors to coordinate staffing. Liberal Leave allows employees to take vacation hours without prior approval from their supervisor.
The Office of Emergency Preparedness & Risk Management (EPARM) is monitoring a winter system that is expecting to bring 2-4 inches of snow to the City of Annapolis through Thursday evening.
Vehicles parked on the roadways are one of the biggest challenges for our snow crews. Residents are requested to park vehicles in driveways and off public streets so plows can clear as much snow as possible.
All four of the City parking garages are now open, free of charge, to City residents in an effort to get vehicles off the street:
- Noah Hillman Parking Garage – 150 Gorman Street
- Gotts Court Parking Garage – 25 Northwest Street
- Knighton Parking Garage – 1A Colonial Avenue
- Park Place – 5 Park Place
Residents should come in the gate and take a ticket as normal. Before leaving the garage, residents should go to the garage office and get a snow voucher by showing proof of residency.
The garages will remain available to City residents until at least 6 p.m. Thursday, February 13.
EPARM will activate the Annapolis Call Center at 8:00 Thursday morning for all non-emergency calls. Annapolis residents can call 410-260-2211 regarding road conditions or any non-emergency snow related questions.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning in effect from 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, to 3 p.m. Thursday, February 13.
Public Works crews are ready to respond to the snowfall with ten crews, 11 vehicles and outside contractors to clear the 276 miles of paved lanes. The City has an ample supply of salt on hand.
Trash collection will not be affected on Thursday and Annapolis Transit will run on a regular schedule.
Thursday’s Environmental Matters Committee meeting has been postponed until March 6 at 3 p.m. and the City Council work session has been postponed until a date to be determined.
