High Speed Chase Ends In Arrest Of Two

On January 31, 2014, at approximately 9:45 a.m. an officer, who was initiating a check on a suspicious occupied vehicle while on routine patrol in the 500 block of Ritchie Highway in Severna Park, was informed via radio that one of the occupants was wanted on a warrant.

As the officer was attempting to get the wanted suspect out of the vehicle, the operator put the vehicle in drive and dragged the officer. The suspect started to drive away with the officer holding onto the driver’s door while he was attempting to get control of the driver.  The officer was drug along the vehicle for approximately 40 -50 feet before eventually being knocked to the ground. The fleeing suspect then intentionally struck the investigating officer’s vehicle, ripping the front bumper off the patrol vehicle in an effort get away from the officer. A pursuit was initiated for the assault on the officer by the investigating officer and responding units.  The resulting pursuit lasted several miles. During the pursuit, stop sticks where deployed in the area of Route 100 east prior to 170, disabling two tires on the suspect vehicle. The pursuit was ultimately terminated at approximately 10:09 a.m. at the intersection of Telegraph Road and Wieker Road in Severn, where the suspect vehicle wrecked into another civilian vehicle.

Two suspects were apprehended in the vehicle. The investigating officer, a 7-year veteran of the force, sustained minor injuries, but has not received medical treatment at this time. The civilian in the vehicle that was struck at the conclusion of the incident was transported precautionary to Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where she was treated and released. The driver of the suspect vehicle, James Snyder, was not injured and the passenger, Ian Brown, was transported to Baltimore Washington Medical Center for treatment of a minor medical issue.

Suspect #1: James William Snyder, 25, of 1305 Morling Avenue, Baltimore, Md (driver) Charges: 1st & 2nd Degree Assault, Destruction of Property, CDS charges, Resisting Arrest and numerous traffic offenses. He had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear for traffic out of Baltimore City

Suspect #2: Ian Todd Brown, 28, of no fixed address was charged with CDS-related offenses
