child-abuse-genericOn December 31, 2013 at approximately 6:31 p.m., the Anne Arundel County Police Department responded to Level 4 of the Maryland Live! Casino Parking Garage located at 7002 Arundel Mills Circle, Hanover, Maryland, 21076 reference an unattended child in a parked vehicle.

Investigation revealed that security personnel from Maryland Live were on routine patrol of the parking garage when they noticed a child (3-5 years in age) crying, and unattended, within a parked vehicle on Level 4. Further investigation determined that the vehicle arrived at approximately 10:00 am on December 31, 2013 where a female exited the vehicle then entered the casino area of Maryland Live! Casino.

Based on the investigation, the low temperature, the child’s age and the obvious distress, medical personnel were summoned to the scene to check the child for injuries. The child was subsequently transported to the Baltimore Washington Medical Center for an examination. Just prior to transport, the mother of the child returned to the scene and identified the child as hers. It was determined that the child was 4 years old.

The mother, Alicia Denice Brown, 24, of the 2100 block of Chelsea Terrace, Baltimore, Maryland, was arrested at the scene and charged with: Child Abuse 2nd Degree, Confined Unattended Child under 8 years old, and Neglect of a Minor.

The child was examined by physicians at BWMC and found to be in good health, other than cold and hungry, and showed no signs of physical child abuse. Child Protective Services was contacted in reference to this incident and a safety plan was developed. The child was released to a relative as part of the safety plan.

See this is why the children should be able to gamble too. That’s not even her fault. Stupid laws.
