An Afternoon With Doug Tallamy

tallamy_dSpend an afternoon with the dynamic and inspiring Professor Doug Tallamy, best-selling author of the groundbreaking book Bringing Nature Home: How You Can Sustain Wildlife with Native Plants. Dr. Tallamy continues to inspire audiences with his fascinating presentations about the specialized relationships between wildlife and native plants and the critical role we each play in restoring biodiversity to our yards and communities. In this “Networks for Life” presentation, Dr. Tallamy will discuss how the landscaping of our cities, suburbs, yards and farmland has fragmented habitats that support biodiversity into isolated habitats that cannot support populations large enough to survive normal environmental stresses. Learn how to reconnect viable habitats by expanding existing greenways, building riparian corridors, and by changing the way we landscape our yards and corporate landscapes. How we landscape today will determine what life looks like tomorrow! Dr. Tallamy’s entertaining presentations have inspired thousands of people to change the way they think about plants & wildlife – many attendees return again and again! Whether you’re an amateur or master gardener, professional landscaper, environmentalist or just enjoy nature, don’t miss this!

Proceeds support Unity Gardens, a non-profit group in Anne Arundel County that supports the building of community partnerships through the creation of greening projects, environmental enhancement & education. Recently funded projects include outdoor classrooms, rain gardens, native wildlife gardens, beekeeping, a Strong Girls Club edible garden (that supplied a local soup kitchen) and more!
