Anne Arundel Cares Helps Raise $13K For Local Non-Profits

AnneArundelCares_250x250_3upLocal nonprofits raised $16,831 through Anne Arundel Cares on #GivingTuesday, a day dedicated to giving back to one’s community.  $13,331 was contributed online to 19 different nonprofits on Tuesday, December 3rd through the Anne Arundel Cares website.

In addition, the Anne Arundel County Literacy Council, Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, and Food Link each won $500 prizes from Anne Arundel Cares for receiving donations at random times during the 24-hour period.  Creating Communities, Rob Levit’s organization providing access to the arts to underserved communities, won two $500 Anne Arundel Cares prizes.

“The success of the Anne Arundel County Literacy Council on #GivingTuesday is particularly exciting”, says Joanna Conti, Founder and Chair of Anne Arundel Cares, Inc.  “A tiny organization that helps volunteer tutors provide one-on-one weekly tutoring to illiterate adults, the Council raised more money than all but 22 other nonprofits across the country using our type of fundraising platform that day.  As a result, they won $1,000 in prizes from The Razoo Foundation, bringing the total they raised on #GivingTuesday to $8,255.”

Anne Arundel Cares builds awareness of the difference 63 nonprofits are making in Anne Arundel County through its website www.aacares.org.   The organization has raised $108,906 for local nonprofits since it was launched last September.
