Budweiser Clydesdales To Parade Through Annapolis

militarybowlThe Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman, benefiting the USO, announced today that game day festivities will kick off Dec. 27 with the Military Bowl Parade, led by the world-renowned Budweiser Clydesdales. The parade will travel through downtown Annapolis prior to the 2013 Military Bowl at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

The parade will begin at City Dock at 11 a.m. and make its way up Main Street before eventually working its way to Rowe Boulevard and finishing on Taylor Avenue adjacent to the stadium.

“What a way to kick off our first Military Bowl in Annapolis,” Military Bowl President & Executive Director Steve Beck said. “A long list of people have worked hard to make this parade a reality, especially the staff of the Annapolis city government and Katcef Brothers. We think the parade will be a terrific addition to our game day.”

In addition to the Clydesdales, the parade will feature bands, cheerleaders, mascots, color guards and other performers, as well as several recipients of the Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military honor, which is given for personal acts of valor above and beyond the call of duty.

Admission to the parade is free.

Admission to the tailgate also is free, and food and beverages will be available for purchase. Live music, Budweiser Build-A-Bars and the Clydesdales will help round out the pre-game party.

The Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman kicks off at 2:30 p.m. and matches teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference and Conference USA. The matchup will be announced Dec. 8, and the game will air nationally on ESPN. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets and parking by visiting militarybowl.org or by calling 888-841-2787.

“The opportunity to host the Military Bowl is a perfect mix of the City’s love of football and its strong support of our military,” Annapolis Mayor Joshua J. Cohen said.  “Annapolis is home to the United States Naval Academy and residents love Navy football, both important to the enduring appeal of our City. Annapolis looks forward to partnering with the Military Bowl, bringing more outstanding college football to the City.”
