Army-Navy Hockey Re-Scheduled For March 1

IMG_0542In a shift from tradition, Navy Hockey annouces it will honor its Seniors on Saturday, March 1, 2014 when Army visits Annapolis for the second annual Army-Navy Hockey Game. The original game was not played due to the government shut-down and was rescheduled for March.

“We couldn’t think of a more fitting game to send our seniors off,” said Ben Berkey, Navy’s Director of Hockey Operations. “This game will be the last homestand of the 2013-2014 season and will be the last time these seniors play at McMullen Arena as a Navy Midshipmen.”

Offensively, Navy is led by four dynamic seniors each playing their role in a cohesive and flourishing squad.

  • Tom Krysil (Leominster, MA), For the past two seasons, Krysil has led the ACHA Division 1 in goals and points, last year with 47 goals and 88 points and receiving All ACHA Second Team Honors.
  • Tommy Reed (St. James, NY), the speedy winger who surpassed the 100 point mark last year while proving to be a force with 17 goals and 47 points.
  • Cam Harrigan (Newport, RI), the man in the middle and faceoff specialist who finished the past season with 21 goals and 19 assists.
  • Travis Franklin (Huntersville, AL) returns his hard-nosed style to the team this year. Franklin’s grit and determination is unmatched around the league.

The defensive corps is led by  3 seniors who have been integral parts of both special teams units.

Aaron Fleming (Cocoa Beach, FL), brings great hockey IQ, puck moving ability, and passion to the game.

Conor Kearney (Wilbraham, MA), boasts size, positioning, and a willingness to give up his body while blocking shots.

Andrew Mills (Sewickley, PA) has proven to be one of the best goaltenders in the country, and his play is absolutely crucial to team success. Simply put, with Mills in net, Navy is a national contender.

Puck drop is slated for 8:30pm on Saturday, 01-March-2014. The Class of 2014 and their parents will be honored at a ceremony prior to gametime. The Guest of Honor for the game has yet to be announced.

Go Navy, Beat Army!
