| November 10, 2013, 04:46 PM | 0 Comments

turkey_trotKentucky has its Run for the Roses. At Anne Arundel Community College, runners compete for prizes of substance – turkeys and pies!

The 25th Annual AACC Turkey Trot and Food Drive starts at noon, Wednesday, Nov. 27. The new route starts and finishes at Siegert Field on AACC’s Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway.

Participants are asked to donate nonperishable individual meals and snacks to the AACC Student Food Pantry for students who arrive to school hungry and cannot afford to purchase food. Suggestions include microwavable meals or soups, breakfast or granola bars, fruit cups, cheese and crackers, peanut butter and jelly and cereal.

Registration fees through Nov. 20 are $15 for the 5K race and $10 for the one-mile jaunt, with an extra $5 registration fee after Nov. 20. Race packets are available at 10:30 a.m. on race day. Prizes including turkeys, pies and gift certificates will be awarded in new categories at 1:15 p.m. in the David S. Jenkins Gymnasium.

For a race form or information, visit www.aacc.edu/healthfitness/turkeytrot.cfm or contact race coordinators Jim Fontaine, 410-777-2303 or [email protected] or Ken Wolf, 410-777-2347 or [email protected].
