State Trooper Struck, Critically Injured.  A Maryland State Police trooper was critically injured while backing up another trooper during a traffic stop in Anne Arundel County early Sunday morning. The trooper, identified as Jacqueline A. Kline, was flown to Shock Trauma with head injuries, a broken arm, cuts and contusions. She was listed in critical condition Sunday night.

Pasadena Fire Causes $150K In Damages.  A fire Saturday afternoon caused $150,000 in damage. Around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Anne Arundel County fire crews were called to the 1200 block of Hilltop Road, where flames were shooting from the roof, firefighters said. Firefighters brought the blaze under control just before 2:15 p.m.

Anne Arundel Looks To Ease Rules On Chickens.  Some Anne Arundel County lawmakers want to ease rules on residents who own backyard poultry. A bill introduced in the county council would permit residents living on a quarter-acre of land to legally own up to four chickens. Residents with a half-acre of property could own up to eight ducks.

Arundel Center Security Enhanced.  Visitors to the Arundel Center will have to go through added security measures during public meetings and large events. The county executive asked for tightened security Friday in wake of Thursday’s breach of security on Capitol Hill, the shootings at the Washington Navy Yard and a shooting at a northeastern Pennsylvania municipal building.

Anne Arundel Principal Gets Slimed.  If you grew up in the 1990s, or have a kid who did, you’ll probably remember “getting slimed.” On Friday, an Anne Arundel County principal got covered in goo as a reward for her students. Principal Elena Simmions of St. Jane Frances School in Pasadena said it was a bargain made with students that if they reached their reading challenge goal, she would get slimed.
