Teen Tackles Would-Be Burglar In Edgewater.  A teen who witnessed a theft was able to tackle a would-be burglar in Edgewater, Anne Arundel County police said. Officers were called to a home in the 900 block of Holly Avenue in Edgewater for a report of a theft around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. A 15-year-old boy told police he saw a man stealing a FedEx package from the front steps of his home and running away with it.

Operation Eagle Progression Nets 37 Citations.  The Anne Arundel County Police Department announced results from their latest distracted driving campaign. Thousands of accidents occur every year in the state of Maryland as a result of some form of distracted driving behavior. Police said although all forms of distracted driving are dangerous, the use of handheld cellphones, specifically texting and web surfing, causes drivers to take their eyes off the road more than any other form of distracted driving.

Delegate Looks To Make Revenge Porn Illegal.  The explosion of social media and sexting has opened the door to a practice that one lawmaker wants to criminalize. Delegate Jon Cardin said Tuesday that Maryland needs to enact serious consequences for so-called revenge porn. He described that as when someone posts online explicit pictures of someone else — perhaps a former spouse, girlfriend or boyfriend — without his or her consent.

Man Known For Faking Illness To Avoid Restaurant Tab Arrested.  It seems a notorious petty thief known for racking up a huge bill at restaurants and then faking an illness in an effort to avoid paying has struck again. Police arrested 46-year-old Andrew Palmer on Sunday night, and they have a strong warning for those in the restaurant industry. According to court records, Palmer has been arrested almost 100 times for dining and not paying, costing area restaurants tens of thousands of dollars.
