Winning Mega Millions Ticket Sold In Severn.  Someone in Maryland is a new millionaire as the winner of Tuesday night’s Mega Millions drawing. The lucky winner purchased the ticket in Anne Arundel County and will be the sole owner of the $189 million jackpot, which has a cash option of $129.7 million. Lottery officials said the ticket was purchased at Dash In along the 7000 block of Quarterfield Road in Severn.  The retailer will get up to $100,000 in commission for selling the ticket.

Man Arrested In Smash And Grab Burglaries.  Anne Arundel County police said they arrested a man they believe is responsible for at least nine smash-and-grab burglaries throughout the county. Anne Arundel County Police Department received an alarm call from Parks Liquors at 454 East Bay Front Road in Deale around 10:30 p.m. Sept. 20. Officers arrived on scene and confirmed that a burglary took place at the business.

Backstabber Arrested In Anne ArundelAnne Arundel County police said they arrested a man for stabbing a teen in the back. Officers were called to the Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday for a reported stabbing. A 16-year-old boy told police he was stabbed after an altercation with an acquaintance.

Unemployment Offices Swamped As Claims Pour In.  As more people become affected by the government shutdown, Maryland’s unemployment office said it’s becoming overwhelmed with claims. State workers who process the claims will be busier than they’ve been in a while as the number of federal workers filing for unemployment in the past two days has surpassed the average for a whole year, state labor officials said.
