Woman Arrested In Westfield Annapolis Mall Stabbing

Octavia WilliamsOn 9/2/13 at approximately 6:15 p.m. Anne Arundel County Police were notified by mall security of a possible stabbing that occurred in the American Apparel store located at 1355 Annapolis Mall.

Investigation revealed that a group of people engaged in a verbal altercation. One of the people involved threw a punch, but did not strike anyone. At that time, the eventual suspect, swung her hands and struck the victim in her back with a sharp instrument. The sharp instrument punctured the victim’s back.

Medical personnel responded, but the victim refused treatment. The wound is described as a superficial puncture.

Officers on scene, with the assistance of Mall Security, were able to quickly positively identify several of the parties involved in this altercation. Southern District Detectives assisted with the investigation which led to the quick arrest of the suspect involved in the stabbing.

No other injuries were reported and no other parties will be charged. These groups were not known to one another; however, the victim group and the suspect group are from Prince George’s County. The victim is a 21 year old female from Forestville.

The suspect will be charged with 1st and 2nd degree assault.
