Detective Witnesses Assault, Chases Suspect. A man shoved a store security officer to the ground Tuesday and stole his cellphone, according to a police detective who witnessed the incident, police said. Police said the detective saw the incident take place around 12:15 p.m. Tuesday and gave chase. He and other officers caught the man — Deshawn Quinton Johnson, 26, of Baltimore — and arrested him on charges of robbery, theft, resisting arrest and reckless endangerment.

Investigator Testifies At Naval Academy Trial. An investigator testified Tuesday that the woman at the center of a Naval Academy sexual assault case said in an interview that she couldn’t remember whether sexual encounters with the men charged in the case were consensual or not. Special Agent Michelle Robinson spoke from Bahrain by video teleconference in the Article 32 hearing at the Washington Navy Yard to help determine whether three U.S. Naval Academy midshipmen will face a court-martial. The former football players are accused of sexually assaulting or abusing the woman at an off-campus party in 2012.

SUV Towing Trailer Overturns On I-97. A sport utility vehicle towing a trailer overturned on Interstate 97 late Tuesday morning. Authorities said the crash occurred shortly before 11 a.m. on northbound I-97 at Maryland Route 32. One lane was getting by the scene on northbound I-97 through the noon hour. Investigators said the driver somehow lost control, causing the camper and the SUV to overturn.

Women Caught With Replica Gun, Stun Gun In Carry-On Bags.  Maryland airport officials reported finding two women in possession of weapons as they tried to check into flights on Labor Day. Officials at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport said a Delray Beach, Fla., woman was stopped by Transportation Safety Administration officials Monday afternoon after checkpoint officials said the X-ray machine spotted a gun in the woman’s carry-on bag.
