County Settles Leopold Harassment Suit For $110,000. Anne Arundel County is ending a legal dispute resolving claims of sexual harassment and retaliation against former County Executive John Leopold. Karla Hamner has accepted the county’s offer of judgment and will receive $110,000. Attorney’s fees and court costs must still be determined. Hamner filed a complaint against the county in 2010 claiming discrimination, sexual harassment and retaliation. She had worked for Leopold and was then sent to the Police Department for another position, but was not hired there. She claimed Leopold ran the county through fear and intimidation.

Calls For Accountability Surround Navy Sex Case. The case of three former U.S. Naval Academy football players accused of sexually assaulting a fellow midshipman at an off-campus toga party has renewed calls for academy leaders to face tough accountability as the military tries to curb what has become a persistent and embarrassing problem.

Police: Child Injured After Man Shoots Into Home.  Anne Arundel County police are looking for a man who shot into the home of a family of five, injuring a child. Officers were called to the 600 block of Cadbury Drive in Odenton for a report of shots being fired into a home around 9:45 p.m. Monday. A 25-year-old man told police someone fired shots through the front window of his home. The victim, his 26-year-old wife, and their three children — a 7-month-old girl, a 19-month-old girl and a 4-year-old girl — were inside of the home at the time of the incident.

Passenger Shot At Glen Burnie Gas StationAnne Arundel County police are looking for more information on a shooting that critically injured a man in Glen Burnie overnight. Officers said the victim was shot in the abdomen while he was a passenger in a car at a Sunoco gas station in the 300 block of Hospital Drive around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday.
