Baysox Swept In Double Header To End Season At 500

Baysox 2013IMG_9706The Bowie Baysox (71-71) lost both ends of their doubleheader to the Erie SeaWolves (76-66) to finish off their season right at .500.  The Baysox dropped both games by a score of 6-3.

In game one, Erie jumped out to the lead on a first inning solo home run by Brandon Douglas.

Brandon Waring answered back in the second with his 23rd home run of the season, a solo shot to make it 1-1.

Douglas knocked in another run in the third inning on a sacrifice fly to give the SeaWolves a 2-1 lead.

Then in the fourth Wade Gaynor tacked on another run with a solo home run to make it 3-1.

In the fifth inning, the SeaWolves added three more runs.  Jamie Johnson led off with a single and went to second on a wild pitch.  Then with two outs, Ramon Cabrera hit an RBI single to knock him in.  Collins followed with a two-run home run to make the score 6-1.

The Baysox did get one run in the sixth on a Waring RBI single and a run in the seventh on a solo home run by Luis Martinez to cut the lead to 6-3.

Ramon Garcia got the win going six innings and allowing two runs on seven hits with three strikeouts.

Tyler Wilson got the loss going five innings and allowing six runs, five earned on nine hits with six strikeouts.

In game two, the Baysox jumped out to the quick start in the first inning.  Niuman Romero hit a one out double.  Then Josh Horton homered to make the score 2-0.

The SeaWolves got one run back in the bottom half of the inning.  Eugenio Suarez doubled and then Daniel Fields knocked him in with an RBI single to make the score 2-1.

In the second the SeaWolves scored three runs on three hits to take the lead for good.  James Robbins, Jamie Johnson and Tyler Collins all knocked in runs to make the score 4-2.

The Baysox got one run back in the third inning.  With two outs, Horton walked and Caleb Joseph singled.  Then Seth Loman singled with two outs to cut the lead to 4-3.

Luis Castillo and James Robbins hit back-to-back RBI doubles in the bottom of the third inning to push the lead back out to 6-3.

Thomas Collier got the win going five innings and allowing three runs on six hits.

The loss went to Tim Bascom who allowed four runs on six hits in two innings of work.
