Baldwin Homes Makes A Dream Come True

make-a-wish-logoYesterday, Michael Baldwin, President of Baldwin Homes, Inc., (www.baldwinhomes.net) helped Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic to grant the one-true-wish of four-year-old Katelyn of Waldorf, Maryland. Katelyn, who adores pink and Rapunzel, walked through the doors of the Maryland Green Designer Show Home to a party just for her; revealing a real life Rapunzel, sweet treats, princess themed gifts and learned that her newly redecorated “Princess bedroom” was ready!  The party took place on Wednesday, August 21st, at the Maryland Green Designer Show Home (www.mdgreenshowhome.com) in Gambrills, Maryland; which is still currently up for sale, with 100% of the profits being split and benefiting Make-A-Wish® Mid-Atlantic and Hospice of the Chesapeake.

“It was truly an honor to be able to grant this sweet little girl her dream of her very own princess room”, exclaimed Michael Baldwin, President of Baldwin Homes. “As a father myself, just to see her smile when we were making her dream a reality was so rewarding, especially one [a child] who has been through as much as Katelyn has“, he continued.

Katelyn, who has recently gone into remission, arrived at the party in a limo where she was greeted by a real-life Rapunzel princess (courtesy of Princesses by Heidi) and Chick-fil-A’s princess cow (courtesy of Chick-fil-A Waugh Chapel).  Katelyn was joined by her two sisters (ages 2 and 6), mother, active-duty military father, and friends. The home was thoroughly decorated with pink and purple and featured a cupcake tower overlooking the party donated by Cupcake Boulevard in Gambrills. Another wonderful surprise was the candy bar filled with various treats and catering generously provided by Chick-fil-A of Waugh Chapel.

Upon returning to her home, Katelyn found a completely transformed bedroom done by the Make-A-Wish® Mid-Atlantic team and Alexandra Liff of Maryland Paint and Decorating. Her new Princess Palace includes: Rapunzel and Princess wall decals, a princess bed and princess dresses hung up around her room.

“Baldwin Homes is the perfect example of a local business generously supporting our organization and the local kids and families we serve”, said Laura Cadwell, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic. “Their financial donation, and efforts to throw Katelyn such a special wish party to unveil her new princess bedroom, speak to their sincere commitment to our community.  Without the support of local individuals and businesses, like Mike Baldwin and his team, we would not be able to grant the wishes that we do.  Baldwin Homes’ efforts remind us that it is possible for any person or group to make a tangible impact and help to grant the wishes of local children with life-threatening medical conditions”, she continued.

Baldwin Homes sponsored Katelyn’s party and room makeover with the help of Make-A-Wish® Mid-Atlantic. Additionally, Make-A-Wish® Mid-Atlantic is one of two local charities benefiting from the net profits that will be generated by the sale of the Maryland Green Designer Show Home where the party was hosted.
