AACC Job Fair And Workshops Announced

help-wantedPrepare to make a good impression at Anne Arundel Community College’s Fall 2013 Job Fair on Nov. 14, or at your next job interview by signing up for some of the job and résumé workshops offered this fall by the college’s Career and Transfer Resource Center.

Workshops include:

Oct. 3 – 12:30-1:30 p.m. Your Résumé: Set the Stage – Learn what employers want in job descriptions and find out how to promote your best skills and attributes on your résumé. It meets in the Center for Applied Learning and Technology Room 136.

Oct. 8 – 5-6 p.m. Ace Your Job Interview – Learn how to set yourself apart from other job seekers and to master the different types of interviews. Discover ways to connect with an employer. It meets in the Student Union Room 204.

Nov. 14 – 10-11 a.m. (Right before Job Fair) Job Fair Spotlight on You – Attend this workshop and get priority meeting at 11:30 a.m. with employers before the Job Fair begins. Get last minute tips on what not to do and what to do to impress employers and effectively communicate your interest for a job. It meets in the Robert E. Kauffman Theater in the Pascal Center for Performing Arts.

Nov. 14 – Noon-4 p.m. Job Fair – Anne Arundel Community College Fall Job Fair, bring résumés and come in professional dress for interviews. Some employees may require security clearances. Nov. 18 – 12:30-2:30 p.m. Veterans Employment with the Federal Government – Find out how to navigate the federal hiring process and how to earn additional rating points that sets your application package apart. See examples of well-written, accomplishments-based résumés based on military service. Learn about the veteran preference. It meets in Florestano Building Room 114.

In addition, the college Career and Transfer Resource Center offers free walk-in help in its Job Search Mondays. Through Monday, Nov. 4, you can walk into the Student Services Center Room 222 from 1 to 6 p.m. without an appointment and speak with an employment services specialist on any topic related to your job search.
