Triple Fatal Accident On Route 3

UPDATE 10:19pm 8/27/2013:  Seven vehicles were involved. All the fatalities were in one vehicle. Two adults and one child died in the accident. 

“We owe it to the family members to do a thorough job with the investigation,” Lt Smith reported when asked how long the road will be closed. 

Speed was listed as the main factor in the accident. No identities have been released at this time.

On Tuesday, August 27, 2013, members of the Anne Arundel County Police Western District responded to a multiple vehicle crash at Route 3 South near the Rout 32 overpass.  At this time, the crash investigation is in progress and Route 3 is expected to remain closed for the next several hours.  The accident involved a total of five passenger vehicles and one commercial vehicle that was described as a flat bed delivery truck.

This traffic accident has resulted in the deaths of three people.  Additionally, six persons were taken to area hospitals.  Two of these people have been taken to area trauma centers with what are described as life-threatening injuries.  The Anne Arundel County Police Traffic Safety Section will be releasing further details regarding this crash when they have completed their preliminary investigation.  The names, ages and addresses of the victims will not be released at this time.
