Hostage Scare At AACC A Hoax.  A hostage scare at Anne Arundel County Community College turns out to be a hoax, according to police, who said they have a man in custody for staging it all. Detectives said 43-year-old George Carlisle placed the call around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, claiming to be a college professor. He went on to tell them there was an armed student inside the school, holding eight people at gunpoint, police said.

Ravens Score 20 In 4th Quarter To Beat Falcons. Matt Ryan threw for 97 yards and a touchdown in four series, and the Atlanta Falcons limited the Baltimore’s starting offense to three first downs in the first half before the Ravens’ backups pulled out a 27-23 preseason victory Thursday night. Atlanta’s starters bounced back nicely from a 34-10 loss to Cincinnati one week earlier. Under Ryan’s direction, the Falcons pierced Baltimore for 11 first downs in 16½ minutes and built a 20-7 lead at halftime.

County Police Show Off New Crime Fighting Gadgets. National Forensic Science Week ends Saturday, but Baltimore County police are showing off their newest gadgets before the week’s end. Some of the crime-solving tools include the PanoScan panoramic camera, which captures 360-degree views of a crime scene with very high resolution. Then there’s the GL scan, which is a breakthrough in crime scene photography and can produce raised images of the slightest impressions, such as fingerprints, shoes and tires.

Feds Seize Illegal Cargo At Port Of Baltimore.  Federal authorities said they recently came across illegal cargo at the Port of Baltimore, and one of the items they intercepted is the target of a nationwide crackdown. Authorities said the find is another crushing blow for the lucrative black market business of illegally importing and reselling fake, vintage Land Rover Defenders.
