Manning Takes Stand, Apologizes For Hurting US. Bradley Manning has taken the stand during his sentencing hearing for leaking classified material to WikiLeaks and has apologized for hurting the United States and others. Manning gave an unsworn statement Wednesday, which means he cannot be cross-examined by prosecutors. He began with an apology.

New Teachers Schooled On Social Media.  The official first day of classes is about two weeks away, but for educators new to Baltimore County, there are lessons to learn about the use of social media. In particular, teachers are being made aware of school policy dealing with what they should or shouldn’t post on popular sites like Facebook.

Gansler Responds To “Race Recording”.  Maryland Attorney General Doug Gansler is defending himself after comments he directed at gubernatorial candidate and current Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown were secretly recorded during a meeting.  “Right now, his campaign slogan is, ‘Vote for me, I want to be the first African-American governor of Maryland.’ Which is fine.  There’s no one bigger on diversity than I am,” Gansler told the group in the recording. “That’s a laudable goal, but you need a second sentence: ‘Because here’s what I’ve done, and here’s why I’ve done it.'”

Man Who Bilked Maryland Investors Sent To Prison.  A man who bilked hundreds of Maryland investors with bogus stock has been sentenced to federal prison and ordered to pay restitution. John Curran III, known by the nickname Jeff, has admitted stealing from hundreds of investors in the greater Baltimore area. Curran acknowledged he sold bogus stock in his company Gargoyles Inc.
