Upon arrival, officers spoke with the a representative from JAS Trucking who advised that upon arrival for work on this date they noticed the overhead doors to their building were open.  Further inspection of the building found that suspects had entered the building and started a fire with items from the business.  In addition to the fire the suspects were able to get a fork lift operating and drove the fork lift into a Ford F250 pickup truck that was inside the building.  The suspects also broke out all the windows in the pickup truck.    The suspects then drove the forklift into an exterior wall of the building causing the outside wall and foundation of the building to become compromised.

While Southern District Detectives were investigating the burglary at JAS Trucking, a representative from Brandywine Sand & Gravel, located at 3036 Patuxent River Road, walked up and told detectives that someone had broken into his building and attempted to set it on fire.  Anne Arundel County Fire Department Investigators were already on scene assisting with the investigation at JAS Trucking.  Fire Investigators responded to Brandywine Sand and Gravel and found that the fire inside the building was still smoldering.  Fire Investigators requested assistance from the area fire department to extinguish the smoldering fire.

A building inspector from the Anne Arundel County Inspections and Permits Office was also called to the scene to check the integrity of the building that was damaged by the forklift.

Early damage estimates are over $20,000.00.

While searching the area for evidence, at approximately 0830hrs Southern District Detectives located a white male, later identified as Kevin Nash, walking on Patuxent River Road, approximately ¼ mile from the crime scene.  Nash told detectives that he needed a ride home to Generals Highway.   Evidence recovered from the scene linked both subjects to the burglaries and arsons at JAS Trucking & Brandywine Sand and Gravel.

Nash was taking into custody and transported to Southern District Station for processing.

Michelsen was located at his home and taken into custody without incident.  Michelsen was transported to Southern District Station for processing.
