333 Coffeehouse Presents Coracree

Coracree_smallThe 333 Coffeehouse, Annapolis’ monthly listening space for folk and acoustic music, is pleased to present the Celtic/American folk band Coracree.

Admission: $10 (students, senior citizens and members $8).

Coracree is led by the husband/wife duo of Jane Rothfield (fiddle) and Allan Carr (vocals/guitar). Jane and Allan have been playing their unique blend of traditional and original Celtic and Appalachian style music for over 30 years.  Allan (from Aberdeen, Scotland) grew up surrounded by the rich traditional music of the Northeast of Scotland and is one of the finest singers from that tradition. Jane is an award winning fiddler, clawhammer banjo player and tune composer with deep roots in the fiddle traditions of New England, Scotland and the American South. Rounding out the band’s lineup are rhythm guitarist Sarah Gowan and multi-instrumentalist Bill Quern. (The band also includes drummer Joe DePaolo for some performances, but he is not expected to play at these appearances in Annapolis.)

Coracree play roots music that is directly from the source while expanding on that tradition with newly composed songs and tunes, all played with verve and skill. Great singing, hot instrumentals and with Allan’s humor, always a whole lot of fun!

Coracree will also play for the Annapolis Contra Dance on Saturday, September 21. For more information on that event, see

Coracree have just released their first CD, Dancing in the Sky. Allan Carr’s first solo CD,Songs of Northeast Scotland, was released in August 2012.
