Wright Sequesters Senators

Baysox 2013IMG_9694The Bowie Baysox (43-42) bounced back from the doubleheader sweep on Friday night to beat the Harrisburg Senators (47-41) 3-2 on Saturday night.

Mike Wright led the way throwing the first six innings and allowing just one run on four hits while striking out a career high nine and walking two to get his seventh win of the season.

The Senators struck first in the bottom of the second inning.  Justin Bloxom led off with a walk and then scored an RBI double by Jared Head to make the score 1-0.

In the top of the third, the Baysox answered right back.  Kyle Hudson led off with a single and stole second.  Then Niuman Romero knocked him in with an RBI double to make the score 1-1.

The Baysox took the lead in the fifth inning.  Trayvon Robinson led off with a single, stole second and went to third on a groundout by Romero.  Caleb Joseph then brought him home with a sacrifice fly to make the score 2-1.

In the ninth, the Baysox tacked on a run.  Hudson led off with a single, went to second on a sacrifice bunt and third on a wild pitch.  Then Romero singled to bring him home and increase the lead to 3-1.

Marcel Prado then nailed down the save in the ninth inning.

Taylor Hill got the tough luck loss going seven innings and allowing two runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and two walks.

The teams will face off in their second doubleheader of the series beginning at 1 p.m. tomorrow.  In game one LHP Eduardo Rodriguez (0-0, 9.00) will take on RHP Rob Gilliam (2-2, 4.78)
