West End Grill: Something For Everyone

| July 26, 2013, 01:58 PM | 0 Comments

We chose to have dinner at the West End Grill the other night because our daughter Nikki has a connection. She and her Navy family are in the middle of moving from Pensacola to Norfolk by way of spending time with us in Annapolis this summer. They lived in Norfolk previously, and Nikki recently discovered on Facebook that one of her friends has a brother who is the chef at West End Grill!

We arrived at the restaurant after a sweltering metro ride back from visiting museums in DC. For some reason, there was no air conditioning in our train, or at least not in our car of the train! We all were extremely thirsty and hungry, as we headed back to Annapolis on Rt. 50. Our party of six (four adults and two children) was immediately seated at a large booth located away from the bar in an adjacent area. Our server was attentive and friendly. The air conditioning was delightful!

Nikki said that dinners for children were .99 and we also discovered that all appetizers were half price! We ordered various types of drinks and looked over the regular menu, children’s menu, and specials of the day.

In advance I will tell you that everyone in our very diverse group was very happy with his or her choice for dinner! Paul selected a French dip sandwich with melted cheese. He rarely orders beef, but felt the urge and was very pleased. He especially liked the boardwalk fries that were prepared without seasoning.

I ordered a Morrocan chicken wrap from the special menu of the day. It consisted of lots of yummy chicken with tomatoes, cucumbers, and hummus on tasty flatbread. Nikki had the Greek wrap that she enjoyed very much and said that it tasted very authentic. Both of us asked for a side salad instead of fries (for and additional $1). We were very impressed with the quality and quantity of the salads. The dressings were also delicious!

Lori took advantage of the appetizer special and ordered homemade chips with crab dip, cheese, tomatoes, and another ingredient that she said made it special – corn, that tasted like it was shaved off the cob! She also chose to add 2 oz of lump crabmeat! Grandson Nathan chose the cheeseburger and fries from the children’s menu and was served a very attractive platter that was too much to eat! He ranked it high on his list of cheeseburgers!

Granddaughter Rachel passed over the children’s menu when she saw an appetizer that she just had to have! She ordered the seared tuna that arrived beautifully displayed on toasted wontons. Rachel loved the wasabe cream and the soy ginger dips that were served on the side. After finishing the tuna, she savored each wonton, and recommended that we come back to West End Grill again very soon! I agree!

Dinner for six – $63.72 plus tip.
