The Crabs Are Almost Here

The Rotary Club of Annapolis is ready to welcome as many as 2,500 guests to its 68h annual Crab Feast Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis.  This special event is not only the world’s largest crab feast but also a major fund-raiser which benefits local community and cultural organizations.

The feast is all-you-can-eat and drink, including large and #1 male crabs (the big ones) plus Maryland vegetable crab soup, sweet Maryland corn on the cob, beef barbecue sandwiches and all-American hot dogs donated by Adam’s – the Place for Ribs, watermelon donated by the Mar-Del Watermelon Association and the Maryland Department of Agriculture, and draft beer and assorted sodas.  A bake sale and cake raffle can finish your feast with sweetness.

The event, an Annapolis tradition, will be held rain or shine as most of the tables are protected from the weather.  For tickets call 1-877-333-9667 or visit www.annapolistickets.com before noon on the day of the event, or purchase tickets at the stadium box office after 4 p.m. on Aug. 3.  Tickets for adults are $60 in advance or $75 at the gate, for children ages 3 to 12 they are $20 in advance or $25 at the gate.  Children under age 3 are free.

Seats are still available in the Preferred Dining area, with guaranteed seating in one of the Preferred Dining tents and a wait staff to bring the crabs to the table. Preferred Dining (“Reserved VIP Dining” on the ticket website) is $120 per person.

For free parking guests should enter the stadium parking lot through Gate 2 on Farragut Road or Gate 6 on Taylor Avenue.  No containers, drinks, backpacks, large bags, coolers or similar items will be allowed into the event.

There will be a cash raffle with prizes of $1,000, $500, and $250.  Raffle tickets will be on sale for $5 each, or 5 for $20, and you don’t need to be present to win.  Also for sale will be Crab Feast T-shirts and the Annapolis Rotary Club’s own Crab Feast Mania Cookbook containing more than 240 crab recipes.

Annapolis Rotary members pay all their own administrative costs for the operations of the club, so all funds raised at the crab feast are donated to local charities.  Last year’s crab feast contributed more than $70,000 directly to local charities and non-profit groups, and more than $1 million has been awarded since the first Annapolis Rotary Crab Feast in 1946.
