After Eddie Gamboa threw three scoreless innings to start game one, the Senators finally got to him in the fourth. Brian Goodwin and Steven Souza drew back-to-back walks to start the inning. Carlos Rivero hit into a fielders choice that put runners at the corners. Then with Justin Bloxom batting, Gamboa balked in a run to give the Senators the lead. After another walk and a hit batter, Jimmy Van Ostrand hit an RBI single and Jose Lozada a two-run single that gave the Senators a 4-0 lead.
In the seventh, Waring knocked in another run on an RBI double to make it a 4-2 game, but they would get no closer and drop game one.
Robbie Ray picked up the win in his Double-A debut going five innings and allowing a run on seven hits with eight strikeouts and two walks. Then Aaron Barrett nailed down the save getting the final out of the seventh.
Eddie Gamboa got the loss going the full six innings, but allowing four runs on only three hits with three strikeouts and three walks.
In the second game, the Senators got out to the fast start scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Bloxom knocked in the first run with an RBI single. Then with runners at second and third Jerad Head hit a three-run home run to open up a 4-0 lead.
The Senators added another run in the second when Jeff Howell scored on an error to make the score 5-0.
In the sixth inning the Baysox sent 10 players to the plate and scored four times to cut the lead to one. Josh Horton led off with a single. Kyle Hudson followed with a single and on the play there was an error by center fielder Brian Goodwin that allowed Horton to score. Then with Hudson at third, Niuman Romero grounded out to second to bring home the run. After a pitching change, Seth Loman hit an RBI single that scored Joseph. Garabez Rosa knocked in the final run of the inning on an RBI single to make the score 5-4.
Tyler Herron got the win going 5.2 innings and allowing four runs, two earned on three hits with eight strikeouts and one walk.
Neil Holland picked up the save throwing the final 1.1 innings without allowing a run.
Devin Jones got the loss going six innings and allowing five runs, four earned on five hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.
Tomorrow in the fourth game of this seven game series, RHP Mike Wright (6-2, 4.03) will get the nod against RHP Taylor Hill (1-1, 1.29).
