Mia Farrow’s Brother Makes Alford Plea In Sex Case. The brother of actress Mia Farrow has entered an Alford plea to two counts of sexually abusing two boys. John Villers-Farrow, 66, of Edgewater, entered the plea Friday in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court in Annapolis. An Alford plea allows a defendant to maintain his innocence while admitting prosecutors had enough evidence to convict. (Note: Eye On Annapolis first broke this story on November 15, 2012)
Ft. Meade Commander To Leave After 2 Years. The commander of Fort Meade near Baltimore is getting ready to leave after two years. The Capital of Annapolis reported Col. Edward Rothstein assumed his command in 2011 and will end his tenure Aug. 8. He’ll be replaced by Col. Brian P. Foley, commander of the 50th Signal Battalion from Fort Bragg, N.C. Before assuming command of Fort Meade, Rothstein had served in Afghanistan as chief of intelligence operations for the International Security Assistance Force.
Navy Hospital Corpsman Awarded Purple Heart. A 23-year-old Georgia native was presented with a purple heart during a ceremony at the Naval Academy in Annapolis. The Capital of Annapolis reported Navy hospital corpsman Michael Couch received the medal during a ceremony this week. Couch was injured in February 2011 while serving in Afghanistan. He was traveling in a convoy when the vehicle he was riding in rolled over an explosive device and detonated. He was knocked unconscious and his eardrum was ruptured.
3 Teens Arrested In Odenton Strong-Arm Robbery. Anne Arundel County police said they arrested three teens in a strong-armed robbery in Odenton. Officers were called to a home on Imperial Square in Odenton around 8:20 p.m. Thursday for a report of a strong-arm robbery that happened earlier in the 1100 block of Annapolis Road. A 15-year-old boy told police he was riding his bike through a parking lot when he was confronted by three other teens he knew. They demanded his bike and the victim refused.
