Theft Ring Busted After Suspect Caught By Car Owner. A theft ring targeting vehicles parked at day cares and gyms from Virginia to Missouri has been broken up in Anne Arundel County. Four men from Florida are behind bars, and police are looking into whether the group is tied to other car thefts in the region.Detectives said they uncovered the operation on Tuesday morning when one of the suspects tried to steal items from the vehicle of a woman in Laurel before realizing she was still in the car.

Pair Sought In Credit Card Thefts.  A man and woman are stealing credit cards from women shopping in grocery stores, according to Anne Arundel County police. Investigators said the pair works to distract women in conversation before stealing their wallets. They then use the credit cards at other stores. “While she’s distracted, the other one will either steal a wallet or take something out of a purse,” said police spokesman Lt. Michael Brothers.

3 Boats Destroyed In Fire At Edgewater Marina. Fire officials in Anne Arundel County are investigating an early-morning fire at the Oak Grove Marina in Edgewater. Officials said three boats caught fire shortly after 4:30 a.m. Thursday at the marina in the 2800 block of Solomons Island Road. Two fire boats and nearly 50 firefighters were able to bring the fire under control about an hour later.

Police: Rodgers Ford Killing Was Over Dirty Laundry. Baltimore County police have announced the arrest of a 22-year-old man in the killing of Donte Stephens, 36, in Rodgers Forge. Stephens was found dead in the early morning hours of July 17 in an overturned car on Murdock Road at Blenheim Road, where officers found numerous shell casings. The medical examiner ruled the death a homicide.
