2 Hurt In Possible Lightning Strike In Annapolis. Two people were hurt after a possible lightning strike in Anne Arundel County on Wednesday. Firefighters and paramedics were called around 8:45 p.m. to the 100 block of River Drive in Annapolis, a community near the Severn River. According to preliminary information from fire officials, an 18-year-old man and a 24-year-old man were taken by ambulance to Anne Arundel Medical Center with serious, life-threatening injuries.

School Board Continues To Look For Superintendent. Anne Arundel County’s outgoing school superintendent has wrapped up some final board business as members move ahead in looking for his replacement. The goal is to have a new interim school leader in place before the end of this month. Board members said they’re on track to fill the top spot. What’s still not clear is whether the board will look in-house for a replacement.

Pick-Up Driver Killed In Route 10 Crash. A pickup truck driver died in a crash on Maryland Route 10 Wednesday morning, Anne Arundel County police said. Chris Donald Pfeil, 33, of Glen Bunie, was pronounced dead at the scene after a crash left him inside trapped his overturned pickup truck. County police said Pfeil was travelling northbound on Route 10 when he crossed the median and all southbound lanes at the Dover Road overpass.

Taxpayers may Have To Foot Baltimore Hilton Hotel Debt. The Baltimore City-owned Hilton Hotel has become a financial drain, and next month a decision will have to be made whether to tap the city’s general fund to cover debt payments. The taxpayer-funded hotel has lost millions each year since it opened in 2008. Then Mayor Martin O’Malley pushed the project through City Council to boost Baltimore’s convention business.
