On Saturday, July 27, a new program entitled Cultures of Crabbing will bring the Chesapeake’s crabbing traditions and industry to life from 11am to 2pm at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum (CBMM) in St. Michaels, MD.

During the program, visitors will see crab-picking and harvesting demonstrations along Waterman’s Wharf and the museum’s Small Boat Shed exhibit buildings. Information on crab biology, packing house operations, and the Eastern Shore’s growing Hispanic population and their importance to the crab industry will also be shared throughout the interactive program.

Cultures of Crabbing is part of CBMM’s summer-long Chesapeake People program, which brings local, maritime tradition-bearers and skill demonstrations to the visitor experience every Saturday through Labor Day from 11am to 2pm.

Cultures of Crabbing and the Chesapeake People program are free for CBMM members or with general museum admission. For more information, call 410-745-2916 or visit www.cbmm.org.
