Baysox Roll Into Second Place

Baysox 2013IMG_0012The Bowie Baysox (49-45) extended their season high winning streak to six games with a 4-1 victory over the Altoona Curve (42-52) on Monday night.

Trayvon Robinson got the Baysox out to the lead in the fourth inning with a lead off home run, his first in a Baysox uniform to make the score 1-0.

The Baysox added another run in the fifth inning.  Ronny Paulino led off with a walk and with one out Garabez Rosa singled to put runners at the corners.  Then Josh Horton hit a sacrifice fly to left to extend the lead to 2-0.

In the sixth, the Curve got their lone run of the game with Gregory Polanco hit a sacrifice fly to score Mel Rojas and cut the lead to 2-1.

The Baysox answered right back in the seventh inning.  Seth Loman led off with a solo home run, his second of the season.  Garabez Rosa followed with a single and went to second on an error.  Then Robinson reached on an error that allowed Rosa to score and make the score 4-1.

Mike Wright threw a career best seven innings of one run, six hit ball to pick up his eighth win of the season.

Oliver Drake picked up the save pitching a perfect ninth inning.

The loss went to Ethan Hollingsworth who allowed four runs, three earned over seven innings.
