Baysox Keep Streaking In Seventh Straight Win

Baysox 2013IMG_0041The Bowie Baysox (50-45) managed just four hits total, but still picked up their seventh straight win as they beat the Altoona Curve (42-53) 3-2 on Tuesday night.

The Baysox struck for three runs in the top of the third inning.  Garabez Rosa led off with a single and with one out scored on a Chris Pettit RBI single.  After a to Trayvon Robinson walk and a wild pitch that put runners at second and third, Niuman Romero brought home Pettit with a sacrifice fly.  Caleb Joseph then capped the scoring with an RBI triple to make the score 3-0.

In the seventh, the Curve got on the board.  They loaded up the bases on three singles by Alex Dickerson, Justin Howard and Charles Cutler.  Then Carlos Paulino hit into a fielder’s choice that allowed Dickerson to score and make the score 3-1.

The Curve got within a run in the eighth inning.  With two outs, Gregory Polanco walked and went to second on a wild pitch.  Then Dickerson doubled to knock in Polanco and cut the lead to 3-2.

Chris Petrini tossed 4.2 scoreless innings in his second straight spot start, but got a no decision.  He allowed just two hits with three strikeouts and one walk.

Matt Bischoff picked up the win going 2.1 innings and allowing one run on four hits.

Marcel Prado pitched the final 1.1 innings without allowing a run to pick up the save.

The loss went to Eliecer Navarro who went seven innings and allowed three runs on three hits with six strikeouts and one walk.

Tomorrow the Baysox will go for their second straight series sweep as RHP Tim Bascom (2-1, 2.14) takes on RHP Nick Kingham (2-2, 3.41).
