Baysox And Squirrels Suspend In Extra Innings

Baysox 2013IMG_9382After giving up a three-run ninth inning lead the Bowie Baysox had their game against the Richmond Flying Squirrels suspended with two outs and no one on base in the bottom of the 10th inning with the score tied 5-5.

With no games remaining in Richmond this season, the game will be resumed in Bowie on August 16.

The Baysox got the scoring started in the third inning.  With two outs, Niuman Romero doubled and then scored on an RBI single by Caleb Joseph to make the score 1-0.

In the fourth inning the Baysox got another two-out run.  Josh Horton doubled with two down in the inning and went to third on a fielding error.  Then Brian Ward knocked him in with a single to left to make the score 2-0.

Trayvon Robinson added to the lead in the fifth inning when he led off with a solo home run to make the score 3-0.

The Squirrels got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning.  With one out, Skyler Stromsmoe and Javier Herrera hit back-to-back singles to put runners at the corners.  Joe Panik then hit a sacrifice fly to make the score 3-1.

In the sixth inning, the Baysox used two more errors to score two more runs.  Horton led off with a single and went to second on a groundout.  Then Hudson reached on an error by the pitcher Chris Gloor that allowed Horton to score.  Hudson then stole third and on a throwing error by the catcher scored to make the score 5-1.

Ryan Lollis cut the lead to three in the seventh inning with a solo home run, his fifth of the season to make the score 5-2.

The Squirrels rallied in the ninth inning.  Stromsmoe led off with a single, Herrera followed by reaching on an error and Adam Duvall was hit by a pitch to load up the bases.  Angel Villalona then grounded out to the pitcher to knock in a run and move the other two runners up a bag.  After a walk to Mark Minicozzi, Jarrett Parker hit a two-run single to tie up the game 5-5.
