During the July 11 meeting of the Rotary Club of Annapolis, Bea Carson, left, club president, listens as Lydia Hohman, international lane director, displays a plaque from the ecumenical Ugandan Joint Christian Council. It was presented to the Annapolis Rotary and the Rotary Club of Kokolo/Kampala in appreciation of the clubs’ contributions to the promotion of peace in war-torn Uganda.

The council is a cooperating partner that organized and performed mediation training and establishment of conflict resolution teams in four “hot spot” districts in Uganda. The project was funded by a Rotary International Global Grant awarded to the Annapolis Rotary, the lead international partner. The Rotary Club of Kokolo/Kampala was the host club and presented the plaque for UJCC during Rotary International’s convention held in June in Lisbon, Portugal

The RI Global Grant was titled “Conflict Early Warning and Early Response for Peaceful Co-existence.”
