Police: Man Shot In Buttocks In Botched PrankAnne Arundel County police said a man has been charged after a botched prank left another man injured in Lothian. Police said officers were called to the 1300 block of Burton River Road for a possible shooting around 3:50 a.m. Wednesday. Authorities said they found the victim inside the home and also came in contact with three other people — two men and a 17-year-old girl. The trio told police the victim was in an upstairs bedroom by himself when they heard a loud pop and saw the man suffering from a possible gunshot wound to the lower torso.

Arundel Property Taxes To Rise Under New Executive’s Budget. Those living in Anne Arundel County can expect to pay more for their property taxes soon. The County Council has approved County Executive Laura Neuman’s operating budget of $1.3 billion for fiscal year 2014. Homeowners will pay about $26 more for property taxes on the year. There will also be a 3 percent hike on water and sewer rates.

Police Make Arrest In Odenton Home Invasion. One man was arrested in a home invasion burglary and assault, Anne Arundel County police said. Officers were called to the 200 block of Langdon Farms Circle in Odenton for a burglary in progress around 11:20 p.m. Monday. A 39-year-old woman told police two people forced their way into her house and one of them assaulted her. The victim said she was in her home when she heard a noise and was approached by one of the suspects.

NTSB Releases New Information On Train Derailment. The National Transportation Safety Board released new information Wednesday regarding its investigation into the May 28 train derailment in Rosedale. According to the trains’ event recorder, the locomotive crew started sounding the first of three horn blasts 17 seconds prior to impact. A straight-on view of the rail crossing headed north, the same direction refuse truck driver John Alban Jr. traveled the day of the crash, shows a rail crossing sign to the right, and just before reaching the tracks, there is a slight incline.
