IMG_9783With 1,500 cowbells ringing all game long, The Baysox (38-39) scored five consecutive runs after falling behind 4-1 in the fourth inning on the way to a 6-4 win over the Harrisburg Senators (44-36) Saturday night.

Prince George’s Stadium was full of Major League players on rehab assignments Saturday evening. Orioles pitcher Wei-Yin Chen started for the Baysox, throwing five innings and allowing four runs on five hits while striking out five and walking two in the no decision.

Orioles outfielder Nolan Reimold was also making a rehab assignment with the Baysox, starting in left field and batting third. He went 1-for-3 with a run scored, a walk and a strikeout. Finally, Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper was making a rehab appearance with the Harrisburg Senators. He went 0-for-3 with a walk, two strikeouts and a run scored.

Bowie’s bullpen shut the game down late, pitching the final four innings without allowing a base runnner and striking out six batters. Lefty Chris Petrini pitched two scoreless innings to earn the win and Oliver Drake followed with two scoreless innings for his third save of the season. Other than the inning where the Senators scored their three runs, the Baysox pitching staff did not allow a single runner past first base.

The Baysox jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the second inning against Harrisburg starter Blake Treinen. Right fielder Garabez Rosa hit a two-out single to right field, moved to second base on a wild pitch and scored on a single to left field from first baseman Aaron Baker to make the score 1-0.

Harrisburg came back to take the lead in the top of the fourth inning against Chen. Harper drew a lead off walk and Justin Bloxom followed with a one-out walk. Jimmy Van Ostrand got the scoring started with a double to left field that plated Harper and Jason Martinson followed with a double down the left field line that plated two more runs. Sandy Leon recorded the third straight hit of the inning, an RBI single to left field that gave the Senators a 4-1 lead.

Bowie tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning. Second baseman Josh Horton hit a lead off single to left field and center fielder Kyle Hudson followed with a walk. Third baseman Ty Kelly reached on a force out that moved Horton to third base and eliminated Hudson at second. Shortstop Niuman Romero followed with a single to right field that plated Horton and Reimold then walked to load the bases. Catcher Caleb Joseph plated a second run with a sacrifice fly and first baseman Seth Loman tied the game 4-4 with a single to right field.

The Baysox retook the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning against reliever Matt Grace. Reimold hit a one out single to center field and Joseph followed with a home run to left-center field that made the score 6-4.

Grace took the loss for Harrisburg, pitching one inning and allowing two runs on three hits while striking out one batter.
