Baysox Lose Finale To B-Mets

BaysoxAfter giving up the lead three times on Sunday afternoon, the Bowie Baysox (31-34) gave up a walk-off home run in the ninth to lose to the Binghamton Mets (42-26) 5-4 on Sunday afternoon.

Joe Bonfe led off the ninth inning by hitting the walk-off home run to straight away center field on the sixth pitch of his at bat to give the B-Mets the win.

For the third straight game, the Baysox struck first in the top of the first inning.  Ty Kelly led off with a double, went to third on a single by Caleb Joseph and then scored on a single by Brandon Waring to make the score 1-0.

The B-Mets answered right back in the bottom half of the inning.  With one out, Josh Rodriguez singled and Travis Taijeron doubled to put runners at second and third.  Allan Dykstra then hit a sacrifice fly to make the score 1-1.

In the third inning, the Baysox took the lead back.  Kelly led off with a single and went to third on a single by Niuman Romero.  Then with Joseph batting, Kelly scored on a wild pitch to give the Baysox a 2-1 lead.

The B-Mets tied it back up in the fourth inning.  Taijeron singled to lead off the inning and Dykstra walked to put two runners on.  Then with two outs, Blake Forsythe singled to right to bring home Taijeron and even the score up at 2-2.

In the fifth inning, the Baysox took the lead right back.  Kyle Hudson led off with a single and with one out Kelly picked up his third hit of the game with a single of his own.  Romero then hit a two-run double to give the Baysox a 4-2 lead.

The B-Mets came back to tie it up once more with a pair of solo home runs in the sixth inning.  Taijeron got them within one with his fourth home run of the season and then with two outs, Richard Lucas tied it up at 4-4 with his second home run of the season.

Chase Huchingson got the win throwing a scoreless ninth inning.

Clay Schrader gave up the home run in the ninth to get the loss.

The Baysox will have an off day tomorrow before turning home on Tuesday, June 18 to take on the Harrisburg Senators in a three-game set.
