Annapolis Synagogue Presents Film Series in July

knesethCongregation Kneseth Israel presents its first film series starting on Tuesday July 2 at 7:30pm.  Three additional films will be screened at 7:30pm on Wednesday July 10, Wednesday July 17 and Wednesday July 24.  The public is invited to attend the screenings which are $5 each and includes popcorn and soft drinks.

Tuesday July 2 at 7:30pm:  “It Is No Dream”  The Life of Theodor Herzl, explores the life and times of the father of the modern state of Israel.  Narrated by Academy Award winner Sir Ben Kingsley and starring Academy Award winner Christoph Waltz as the voice of Theodor Herzl.

Wednesday July 10 at 7:30pm:  “Hitler’s Children”  Hitler’s Children is a unique documentary film that reveals, for the first time, the ways in which family members of high rank senior Nazi officers from Hitler’s inner circle struggle with the burden of carrying a terror-inducing surname.  During detailed interviews, families such as Goering, Himmler, Hoess amongst others, share the feelings of guilt and responsibility that accompany them in their daily lives.

Wednesday July 17 at 7:30pm:  “Everything Is Illuminated”  A young Jewish American man endeavors to find the woman who saved his grandfather during World War II in a Ukrainian village, that was ultimately razed by the Nazis, with the help of an eccentric local.

Wednesday July 24 at 7:30pm:  “The Other Son”  Two young men, one Israeli and one Palestinian, discover they were accidentally switched at birth.  This revelation turns the lives of these two families upside-down, forcing them to reassess their respective identities, their values and beliefs.
