The Whiskey To Close At End Of June

whiskey_web_logoYou have about 30 more days to jam out to some local bands, hang out on the balcony overlooking West Street and generally have a great time. The Whiskey has been sold and the doors will close after the last set on June 30th.

The venue will undergo some renovations by the new owner and will re-open in 2014. It is not clear if the place at 1803 West Street will remain a restaurant and bar or if it will become a different type of dining establishment–or of it remains a dining establishment at all.

The final act on the schedule is The Cheaters, Sweet Leda and Floozie on June 29th.  When asked about the closing, the owner merely said “it was fun while it lasted!”

The Whiskey infused a lot of life into the Annapolis music scene and offered a venue for young bands to hone their skills as well as seasoned bands to try out new stuff. It was never designed to be an “A-List” venue like the Rams Head On Stage; nor was it to be a venue with a three piece band playing in the corner of one of the many historic pubs of Annapolis.  The Whiskey bridged that divide and will be missed–thanks for the memories Mike! And for the next 30 days, let’s make the most of it!
