Police Investigate Possible Sex Abuse At SchoolAnne Arundel County police said they are investigating a Glen Burnie grade school after allegations of inappropriate contact between more than one staff member and a former student surfaced. “This is an ongoing criminal investigation into potential inappropriate contact between staff members and a former student,” Anne Arundel County police spokesman Justin Mulcahy said.

Some Educators Wary About Core Curriculum. Some Maryland teachers have concerns about a new teaching model and evaluation system set to take effect this fall. The Common Core Curriculum, a set of statewide lesson plans designed to improve what students are learning, has become sort of a buzzword for change amongst teachers and principals. But it’s change that some educators said they’re not quite ready to embrace right now.

Security Chief At Baltimore Jail Removed.  A security chief at the Baltimore City jail has been removed amid a federal indictment. State prison officials offered no comment about the move, only saying the chief — identified by state records as Shavella Miles — was relieved of her duties Friday. Records show Miles, one of the top three jail administrators, headed the jail’s security procedures.  She’s the first to be fired since the indictment was announced.

Peeping Tom Enters Plea In Hidden Camera Case. A trial that began Tuesday for an accused peeping Tom in Howard County quickly ended with a guilty plea from the defendant. Michael McKenny, 42, of Columbia, pleaded guilty to three counts of burglary, placing a camera in a private residence for surreptitious surveillance and visual surveillance of another person with prurient intent.
