Anne Arundel Council Overrides Storm Water Veto. The Anne Arundel County Council has voted to override the county executive’s veto of a storm water remediation fee and will now consider emergency legislation to modify it. The new legislation introduced Wednesday would lower the commercial properties fee cap and phases in homeowners’ fees.

Education Benefits In AA County Budget Proposal.  Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman presented her first budget since taking office a few months ago, and for now it fares well for education. She threw her financial support behind a number of school system programs and projects and if all goes as planned, the school system could get more than half of the entire county operating budget.

Police Discover $12K Cache Of DrugsAnne Arundel County police said they arrested one person and are looking for another after discovering a cache of drugs totaling thousands of dollars. Around 11:30 a.m. Monday, officers came to the Sleep Inn 6055 Belle Grove Road in Brooklyn Park after a woman called to say her boyfriend, Reginald Woodson, took her rental vehicle and would not return it to her.

Robber Holds Up Gambrills Capital One BranchAnne Arundel County police are looking for a robber who struck at a Capital One Bank in Gambrills. The robbery happened at 2611 Brandermill Boulevard around 12:18 p.m. Tuesday. Police said the robber handed a bank teller a note announcing a robbery and stating he had a gun, but no weapon was displayed. The robber is described as a black man, 40 to 50 years old with facial hair, a medium build, wearing glasses, a tan baseball-type cap, a dark shirt and black jacket.
