New Security Checkpoint Opens At BWI. A new security checkpoint and a secure connector opened Tuesday morning at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. Officials said the new additions are the first phases of a major terminal enhancement program that will improve the BWI Marshall terminal and add new services for airport travelers.

South River High Team Wins App Development Prize. The Fab Five of South River High School in Edgewater is the only female team to win a national competition to develop a mobile app for the Google Play store. Nearly 500 teams of high school students competed in the Innovative App Challenge sponsored by Verizon to design a mobile app for future download — and only 10 would be selected.

ACLU To Add Former Anne Arundel Police Chief To Lawsuit. The American Civil Liberties Union said it wants to add former Anne Arundel County police Chief James Teare to a lawsuit it filed against the county and former Executive John Leopold in regards to an “enemies list” Leopold had police officers put together. The ACLU said audio tapes it obtained revealed allegations that Teare, who resigned last July, played a direct role in Leopold’s use of the county police force to do research on his personal and political enemies.

Annapolis Home Invasion Under Investigation.  Anne Arundel County police are investigating a home invasion robbery in Annapolis. It happened in the 7500 block of Turner Road in Annapolis around 1 a.m. Wednesday. A man told police a woman knocked on the door and forced her way into the home with two men who were armed with handguns. The robbers took items and money from the home before fleeing the scene in an unknown car.
