Naptown barBAYq Hits Another Home Run, Continues Today

The 3rd Annual Naptown barBAYq hit a home run this weekend as the skies above the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds filled with the scent of barbecue!

More than 60 teams competed for cash and prizes in the Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned event. But the real winners were the estimated 5000 people who showed up yesterday to sample the wares.

But it was not all about the food and drink. The Naptown barBAYq is sponsored by the Parole Rotary and the proceeds will go to benefit local children’s charities. And to keep your ears happy as well as your bellies, they have three stages and more than 40 musical acts bridging many genres.

Local favorites like Swampcandy and the Grilled Lincolns drew a large crowd, but the highlight of the evening was Ashley Forrest, recently signed, 24 year old Crofton native who wil have her debut CD release party at the Rams Head On Stage on May 19th.  Ashley brought her sweet voice with her Nashville (not Crofton) twang to the stage to close out the show.

And as we say, a picture is worth a thousand words, so please relive the day with photos courtesy of Lisa Seborowski for Eye On Annapolis.  The barBAYq continues today from noon to 6pm . Admission is $10 or $45 for VIP. Children under 12 are free. All food, drink, and merchandise can be purchased with barBAYq bucks which can be purchased at various spots around the fairground. The bucks are non-refundable as this is a benefit for children’s charities.
