Marie Thomas of Wye Mills, MD has been named this year’s recipient of the University of Baltimore’s School of Communication Design’s Ampersand Award.
The annual award honors one graduate student whose work best exemplifies the spirit of the school’s M.A. in Publications Design program through exceptional achievement in both writing & design. Since 1993, the award has involved a $500 prize granted by the Bobbye Gold Memorial Fund, established in memory of the wife of Ed Gold, professor.
Thomas is the communications manager of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, MD, and is the editor and creative director of The Chesapeake Log publication. She currently serves as a board member of the Hugh Gregory Gallagher Motivational Theatre and volunteers for the St. Michaels Tourism Board.
