black tie gala 2013 flier (3) (2)The Anne Arundel County Community Action Agency is hosting the Second Annual Homecoming Gala –Fundraiser and Charity Auction on Friday, May 17th at La Fontaine Bleue in Glen Burnie, beginning at 7 p.m.  The proceeds of Homecoming will benefit the Agency’s programs for children and youth.

During the event, five new members will be inducted into the Community Action Hall of Fame.  Also, St. Anne’s Parish will be the first recipient of the Community Partnership Award.   The 2013 recipients of the Hall of Fame award are Helen Chambers, John Greene, Dr. Eleanor Harris, Shirley Harrison and Max Ochs.

Since Community Action’s founding in 1965, many county residents have supported the Agency as board members, staff, volunteers and friends.  The five Hall of Fame inductees are being recognized for their dedication and commitment to the Agency’s mission and programs.  Each of these individuals has made a significant impact on the Agency through their good works.  St. Anne’s Parish is being honored for their continued support and commitment to the Agency’s Head Start program.

“This is an opportunity to meet past and present friends, colleagues, acquaintances and partners of Community Action,” said Gretchen Huntley, Community Action’s Acting CEO.  “You can take time to reminisce and share memorable experiences and stories about Community Action.  More importantly, you can celebrate the people who have invested time, energy or money in Community Action while supporting a noble cause – programs for children and youth.”

There will be dancing and live music provided by The Harmonic Four.  The event will also feature both silent and live auctions, managed by BW Unlimited, to raise funds for the Agency.  Featured auction items include signed sports memorabilia, dream vacations, jewelry and great choices for music fans.
