crime iconOn February 19, 2013, the Anne Arundel County Police Department and the Department of Social Services began investigating allegations against an Anne Arundel County Public School employee, Benjamin Siggers. Mr. Siggers was a substitute school teacher for AACPS and was immediately terminated when the school system learned of the investigation.

During the investigation, it was revealed that Mr. Siggers also served as a Church Group Leader/Counselor for the Severn United Methodist Church. In April of 2012, Mr. Siggers provided transportation for two juvenile males to a camp near Edgewater in Anne Arundel County to participate in the youth group’s overnight activities. While driving the juveniles to the camp, Mr. Siggers produced marijuana and a smoking device, which he shared with them. Mr. Siggers was interviewed in relation to these allegations, where the investigation revealed that he provided and smoked marijuana with the juveniles in his care and custody.

On April 5, 2013, an application for a statement of charges was presented to the District Court Commissioner. After reviewing the probable cause, the Commissioner issued a criminal summons charging Mr. Siggers with two counts of Contributing to Certain Condition of Child and two counts of CDS: Possession of Marijuana.

According to his facebook profile, Siggers is a originally from Severn, MD and a 1999 graduate of Old Mill High School.
