Inmates, Officers Indicted In Bribery Sex Scheme. Dozens of inmates and correctional officers face charges on allegations of bribery in which inmates used sex to gain influence over officers. Taxpayers pay the state to run Baltimore City’s jails, but a federal indictment issued Tuesday reveals the extent to which the bad guys were in control.

Docs: Cinnamon Prank, Dangerous And Deadly. Cinnamon is a tasty spice for food, but it’s also part of a dangerous, possibly deadly trend known as the Cinnamon Challenge. Medical professionals are warning parents about teens ingesting the spice as a prank and then posting the videos online. Doctors have known about it for a while, but they said social media has helped push up the number of young people taking part in the trend, while many parents don’t know what it is or how harmful it can be.

3 Boys Charged With Detonating Soda Bombs. Police in Harford County said three boys were charged with detonating explosive devices at a Bel Air school over the weekend. The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office said a 12-year-old boy and two 13-year-old boys set off six soda bottle bombs at the Harford Day School in the 700 block of Moores Mill Road on Saturday evening.

Police: DC Police Officer Killed By Family Member. The stepson of a D.C. police detective shot and killed the off-duty officer following a dispute over yard work at their Maryland home in a homicide that was captured on surveillance cameras, police said Tuesday. Antwan James, 27, a former District of Columbia firefighter, was charged in a warrant with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Detective Joseph Newell, 46, on Monday night at the Upper Marlboro home they shared. A warrant task force was searching for James, who police said fled on foot after the shooting and remained at large at midday Tuesday.
