Lineup Announced For Southern Maryland Blues Festival

Chesapeake Bay Events, Inc. is pleased to announce the lineup for the 2013 Southern Maryland Blues Festival which is being held on September 7th and 8th at the Calvert County Fairgrounds in Barstow, Maryland.

The inaugural Southern Maryland Blues Festival has mixed a whole lot of Blues, with a little Zydeco, some funk and soul, a touch of country and a southern rock finish.

Opening Saturday lineup is local favorite The Sam Grow Band. The Patty Reese Band featuring Ursula Ricks, Dean Rosenthal and Tommy Lepson will bring together some of the finest local talent around.  Bonerama is up next. Hailing from New Orleans, they bring a unique sound from their trio of trombones.  Following Bonerama is a well know and world travelled blues musician, Walter Trout.   Ana Popovic and her Mo Better Love Band will provide a high energy show with an all-star group of musicians who perform a mix of blues, funk and soul.  Closing Saturday will be Canned Heat including all three of the living members from the original Woodstock Band in 1969.

Sunday opens with Swamp Candy, a two person band that we know will entertain you, followed by the Daryl Davis Band featuring local guitar prodigy Andy Poxon and former Elvis Presley Sax player Del PuschertRosie Ledet and her Zydeco Playboys will bring a bit of New Orleans to Southern Maryland.  Next up, is Mark Hummell’s Tribute to Little Walter featuring Sugar Ray, Billy Boy Arnold, Anson Funderburgh & Little Charlie BatyTrampled Under Foot is made up of three siblings; Danielle, Kris and Nick Schnebeleny.  Trampled Under Foot is currently one of the most popular Blues bands on tour.  Closing the festival is one of southern rock’s most well known bands: The Marshall Tucker Band, who is celebrating 40 years of success.

“We have wanted to do something in our home county for several years.  I’m glad that it is finally a reality,” states Sarah Petska, Director.

All proceeds from this festival will go to End Hunger of Calvert County.

In addition to the music, the festival will have a crafter village, local food, wine and beer.  We will also have a kids’ activity area featuring Moon bounces, face painting and more.
