Erie Offense Sends Baysox Out To Sea

BaysoxOn a rare off night offensively, the Bowie Baysox (10-10) managed just one run on three hits and fell to the Erie SeaWolves (10-8) 4-1.

The SeaWolves got out to a quick start in the top of the first inning.  Daniel Fields led off with a double and scored on an RBI single by Hernan Perez to make the score 1-0.

In the top of the third inning, the Baysox evened things up.  With one out, Brian Ward doubled and went to third on a groundout by Cale IorgXavier Avery then knocked him in with a double to make the score 1-1.

Perez led of the Erie half of the fourth inning with a double and went to third on a wild pitch.  Then Ramon Cabrera grounded out to knock in Perez and give the SeaWolves a 2-1 lead.

In the eighth inning, the SeaWolves added a couple insurance runs.  With two outs, Fields doubled and scored on Perez’s second RBI single of the game.  Cabrera then followed with an RBI single of his own to make the score 4-1.

Derek Hankins got the win throwing eight innings and allowing one run on three hits with six strikeouts and one walk.

Eddie Gamboa got the loss going six innings and allowing two runs on four hits with seven strikeouts and one walk.

The Baysox will wrap up their seven-game road trip tomorrow at 12:35 p.m.  RHP Mike Wright (1-0, 6.75) will get the start against RHP Victor Larez (2-0, 3.38).

The Baysox will return home on Friday, April 26th when they begin a three-game series with the Harrisburg Senators.  Both Friday and Saturday night will be fireworks nights.
